Viracon Wins Three Local Business Awards
Luncheon Celebrates Manufacturer’s Week in Owatonna, MN
OWATONNA, MN – Viracon, the nation’s leading single-source architectural glass fabricator, has received three awards for its contributions to manufacturing in the city of Owatonna. The awards were presented during a manufacturer’s luncheon, hosted by Viracon on behalf of the Owatonna Chamber of Commerce and Tourism on Wednesday, October 24, 2012.
Tom Kuntz, Mayor of the City of Owatonna, presented the Proclamation Award to Viracon as recognition for its positive role in supporting the growth of manufacturing, which is essential to the local and state economy. Manufacturing represents $33.7 Billion or 13% of Minnesota’s gross domestic product (GDP).
Mike Haney from the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) presented the Certificate of Commendationon behalf of Governor Mark Dayton. The Certificate of Commendation recognizes Viracon for its outstanding contributions to the Minnesota economy and its commitment to making the state a better place to live and work.
The Riverland Community College Foundation Board presented Viracon with the Distinguished Business Benefactor Award in recognition of its long-term commitment to helping local students pursue their education and to help build hope, create dreams, and change lives.
Jim Wendorff, Vice President of Human Resources, and Doug Betti, Owatonna Plant Manager, accepted the awards on Viracon’s behalf.

This event was an excellent opportunity for business leaders to come together and engage on topics that positively impact the people of Owatonna.”
