Suurstoffi Development in Switzerland to Feature SEFAR® Architecture Vision

High-Rise Building to Be Completed in 2012

Publish Date: Friday, January 06, 2012

DEPEW, NY… SEFAR® Architecture Vision will enhance a building to be constructed on a former industrial complex in Risch Rotkreuz, Switzerland. The new facility, called Suurstoffi and designed by Holzer Kobler Architects, will feature apartments, working spaces, a bilingual school and a childcare center – all with direct highway access and a recreation area nearby.

SEFAR Architecture Vision will add depth to the high-rise building’s atmosphere with a multi-layered façade that provides an unobstructed view and light transmission for building occupants. It also features thermal insulating qualities for reducing solar heat gain and reflects the sun’s warmth, leading to a reduced need for air conditioning.

“We searched for a material that would provide the aesthetic and functional benefits we needed without changing the building conditions,” says Dennis Clayton Matthiesen, associate at Holzer Kobler Architects. “Other products, such as colored glass and film, would transmit the colored light indoors. SEFAR Architecture Vision was the only solution that met our needs indoors and out.”

SEFAR Architecture Vision is a metal-coated precision fabric interlayer, typically laminated within glass or other transparent materials, to create unique aesthetic design possibilities in exterior glass facades, windows and interior and decorative glass partition wall systems. As a fabric substrate, Vision reduces the material cost and weight requirements of a metal interlayer, while delivering the equivalent effect at a reduced overall cost.

SEFAR Architecture Vision fabrics are available in six fabric density configurations and each can be coated with six different metal coatings: Aluminum, Aluminum/Copper, Chrome, Copper, Titanium and Gold – ultimately providing 36 different combinations for Vision products. They feature plain or twill weaves in a variety of aperture percentages (25-70%) and light transmission percentages (18-60%).
