LOUISVILLE, KY… Metal SalesTM celebrates the grand opening of Proud Green Home at Serenbe, a new Net-Zero energy prototype home outside of Atlanta featuring Metal Sales roof and wall panels. The Proud Green Home opened its doors to the public on August 16th and 17th to educate and inspire people to create their own sustainable homes.

Metal Sales partnered with ProudGreenHome.com– a community media site that hosts daily feature stories relevant to sustainable home building – to provide materials and support for the first ever Proud Green Home. The home contains the latest residential green building technologies and products that contribute to energy efficiency, water efficiency, durability, low maintenance and Net-Zero energy usage.

Metal Sales roof and wall panels with ENERGY STAR® listed colors outfit the home. The panels also feature solar panels and a rainwater catchment system that reduces fresh water consumption.

The metal roof and wall panels add architectural interest and curb appeal to the contemporary home. The Proud Green Home features 2,466 square-feet of 12” Vertical Seam metal roof panels and 1,064 square-feet of 7/8” Corrugated wall panels, both in Dark Bronze. The 24 gauge metal panels are durable, 100% recyclable and contain a high percentage of recycled content.

“The Metal Sales roof and wall panels integrated well with the other materials used on the home. The stunning vertical metal wall panels create symmetry and balance on the home’s exterior,” says Chris Laumer-Giddens of LG Squared, the project architect. “I’m a big fan of metal roofs as they are low maintenance. Metal Sales offers a great selection of textures, patterns, colors and panels.”

The visual appeal and functional benefits of metal roof and wall panels make them an ideal choice for residential applications. Metal panels improve ahome’s energy-efficiency, reducing the amount of energy needed for cooling. Little or no maintenance is required of homeowners and in most cases the panels have a lifespan of 50+ years.

“Not only are metal roofs durable, they also keep the home cooler. This results in better and lower cost energy management,” says Luis Imery of The Imery Group, the project builder. “Metal Sales customer support was outstanding throughout the acquisition and installation process. Their representatives were very hands-on and available.”

As a Net-Zero home, The Proud Green Home will use renewable resources to generate as much energy as it consumes. During the first year, the home’s energy use will be monitored and recorded to demonstrate the effectiveness of its sustainable architecture. The home is expected to exceed Georgia’s minimum energy code rating requirements by 55%.

The Proud Green Home at Serenbe has achieved EarthCraft Platinum certification, which is a residential green building program designed to address the climate conditions of the Southeast. EarthCraft provides a blueprint for creating and maintaining an energy and resource-efficient living environment. Certifications are determined through a points-based worksheet that allows builders to select the sustainability measures that are best suited for their project. Worksheet items address proper site planning, resource-efficient building materials, water conservation and more. EarthCraft gold and platinum certified homes must also meet ENERGY STAR requirements.
