ERIE, PA – Zurn Industries, LLC added a new philanthropic recipient when its associates raised money and awareness this summer for the Erie-based Northwest PA Branch of JDRF (formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).

During three fundraising events organized and led by four summer interns, Zurn associates  raised $2,290 for JDRF.

“Many lives will be touched by your efforts and support and it brings us closer to a cure,” said Diane Sickles, Branch Director of JDRF, in a statement to Zurn. “Thank you so much for your kindness and selfless giving.”

JDRF is a national organization dedicated to finding a cure for–and improving the lives of adults and children with–type 1 diabetes. JDRF says 85 percent of all type 1 diabetes patients in the United States are adults.

“It’s wonderful when Zurn associates can have fun together participating in various events supporting a fabulous philanthropy!” says Sheila Scola, Human Resources Generalist for Zurn.

One event, celebrity bartending, took place at the Oasis Pub in Erie. Other events were held at Zurn headquarters. The interns who spearheaded this campaign are Jack Evans, Will Cole, Yelena Papeko, and Michael Benesh.
