Introducing Digital Printing with SEFAR® Architecture VISION

Metal-Coated Glass Interlayer Expresses Limitless Designs with Transparent Views

Publish Date: Monday, November 25, 2013

DEPEW, NY… SEFAR® Architecture announces that its VISION aluminum-coated precision fabric interlayer for glass is now digitally printable. Vibrant, long-lasting UV-resistant inks allow architects and designers to produce Pantone colors, patterns, pictures or any other design effect imaginable on building exteriors without obstructing views from inside. Designs can be created across the entire length of a glass wall partition, curtain wall or even the entire expanse of a building’s glass façade.

SEFAR Architecture VISION is laminated within glass or other transparent materials to create unique aesthetic design possibilities in exterior glass facades, windows and interior and decorative glass partition wall systems.

As an interlayer, SEFAR Architecture VISION fabric creates unique aesthetic design possibilities in exterior glass facades, windows and interior and decorative glass partition wall systems. As a fabric substrate, VISION reduces the material cost and weight requirements of a metal interlayer, while delivering the equivalent effect at a reduced overall cost.

“I have never seen a material like printed SEFAR Architecture VISION,” says Dennis Matthiesen, Associate with Holzer Kobler Architects in Zurich, Switzerland. Matthiesen recently specified four different colors of printed VISION fabric for a mixed-use development project called Suurstoffi in Risch Rotkreuz, Switzerland.

Matthiesen adds, “VISION is the only product I’ve come across that can provide almost any aesthetic on the outside of a glass façade while maintaining transparent views from the inside. With typical colored glass, the color comes through and saturates the light inside, making the space distracting and only of limited use. Printed VISION fabric is able to provide unlimited color and design choices without this problem.”

With its unique metal coatings, VISION improves the thermal insulating qualities for reducing solar heat gain while allowing for light transmission.  The range of materials can be single or double-side printed to produce the desired effect.

SEFAR Architecture VISION fabrics are available in five different fabric density configurations. They feature plain or twill weaves in a variety of aperture percentages (25-70%) and light transmission percentages (18-60%).
