University of Alabama in Huntsville

Chapman Sisson Architects of Huntsville, AL, collaborated with Banker Wire to design attractive, out-of-this-world wire mesh panels for the front of the parking structure at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. The large scale Banker Wire M13Z-145 architectural wire mesh follows the curved structure on the face of the parking garage, giving the parking structure dimension. This particular weave balances high-percent open area – for the transmission of light and transparency – with strength. It creates a semi-transparent skin that is accented by well-positioned light. The wire mesh reflects the sunlight as well as the architectural lighting, giving the parking structure multiple personalities for day and night.
